Honoring victims of the Holocaust
Although some exhibitions at the US Holocaust Memorial Museum are not appropriate for children under 11 years of age, this is still a very informative place to visit if you either want to learn more about the Holocaust, or simply want to honor a distant relative.
It opened in 1993 and since that time, over 25 million visitors from 100 different countries have made the trip to see it. The US Holocaust Memorial Museum has more than 12,435 artifacts, and about 900 items and 70 video monitors to help you understand the Jewish experience during these terrible times.
There are three parts which tell this story including The Nazi Assault, the Final Solution, and the Last Chapter. Different floors depict different parts of the story. The US Holocaust Museum recommends you order your tickets ahead of time due to the vast number of visitors they receive every day.
