A warm and casual elegance
Tucked at the back of a 19th-century brownstone, home to a family-run hotel, the Tabard is an eclectic and shamelessly romantic destination. Dine in the lounge in front of the fireplace, in the garden under the shade of a silk parachute, or in the private dining room.
The menu favours crisp and local ingredients: fried oysters top a salad of corn and baby spinach. Salmon and trout, both house-smoked, are an excellent standby. Sunday’s crowds (seriously, make reservations far in advance) brunch on just-made doughnuts and eggs Benedict.
