Centuries of creativity

Described by many as a village, Amsterdam packs the cultural punch of a city many times its size. While still retaining a bit of a ‘sex, drugs and rock 'n’ roll' reputation, Amsterdam is now more about being a ‘creative city’ where the high standards set by such Golden Age painters as Rembrandt are maintained. The city has become a global hub for art, design, architecture and advertising, but one where all its attractions are just a short and scenic bike ride away.

Alternative music and pinball Editors' Note

Cafe Sound Garden is a friendly, unpretentious alternative rock cafe in the heart of the city. Locals love the extensive beer menu, the pinball machine and the live music.

The friendly locals come here for cheap beers, good vibes and real music. There’s usually a nice rock band playing or the bartenders play their favorite rock ‘n roll music for you.

Although Sound Garden is a great place for a lively night out, you shouldn’t miss this place during the day either, since they have one of the best hidden terraces in the city.
