Centuries of creativity

Described by many as a village, Amsterdam packs the cultural punch of a city many times its size. While still retaining a bit of a ‘sex, drugs and rock 'n’ roll' reputation, Amsterdam is now more about being a ‘creative city’ where the high standards set by such Golden Age painters as Rembrandt are maintained. The city has become a global hub for art, design, architecture and advertising, but one where all its attractions are just a short and scenic bike ride away.

Small brewery on the Oudezijdsvoorburgwal. They’ve been brewing beer here since 1300. If you are tired of the taste of Heineken you can go here to taste the beer. They also have guided tours.

Beer tastings Editors' Note

Brouwerij De Prael is an organic beer brewery in the heart of the city centre. All beers come from their own brewery and they are named after famous Dutch signers. The beer menu changes often, so you can go often without getting bored.

There’s a tasting room, a bar area, a shop and you can join a guided tour that will teach you all about the beer brewing process. De Prael serves good cafe food as well, like burgers (there’s a veggie one) and smaller snacks.

Beer fans will love the water taps in the toilets. They’re made from real beer taps.
