The ultimate Spanish holiday

With over 1000 places to eat, gorgeous beaches, and skyscraper architecture, Benidorm may be perceived as a premium summer destination, it is in fact rather affordable, and great for budget traveling. The city features numerous bazaars selling cheap leather, shoes and artisan products, including jewelry, pottery and paintings. For good family fun, check out the family water park Aqualandia, or a boat trip to the Isla de Benidorm wildlife sanctuary. Also don’t miss Altea, 12 km from Benidorm, a stunning original old town.

Stay.com Editors' Note

El Xato traces its history back to the 1915, when Pedro Balaguer Orts and Jerónima Cano Pére opened their first winery “Ti Pere el Tardá.” The name of the restaurant changed to Bar El Xato in 1948.

The El Xato restaurant preserves traditional recipes served in La Nucia, and recreates historic menus for its customers. It is a fine restaurant, with very competitive prices, a pleasure to visits: family friendly service, rustic charm, exquisite cuisine.
