The city of the Seven Mountains

De syv fjell (The Seven Mountains) surround the center of the misty harbor town of Bergen. Nestled on the country’s rocky west coast, Bergen is exciting and charming, an ideal starting point for fjord tours and cruises. Bryggen – the medieval fish market street - also known as Tyskebryggen (the German Wharf), is one of the city’s most picturesque sights. Bryggen has been a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site since 1979 – a well deserved accolade, for its unique architecture.

The fantastic 1940s style, food, service and atmosphere are great. Definitely worth a visit. It is a 20 minutes walk from the city centre, but you can also easily take the tram.

A bistro inside the former Bien Apotek Editors' Note

Bien is an interesting bar and bistro concept, inside the historic Bien Apotek, which was founded in 1939. If you are not in the mood for a drink, you should at least stop for a trip back memory lane. Bien boasts the only interior protected in Norway.

At Bien, you can enjoy French-inspired bistro-style cuisine, with classic dishes; as well as several Italian specialties. There is no a la carte menu: you’ll find the weekly specials handwritten on a blackboard. The only thing they serve every day is their signature ragù Bolognese.
