Scandinavia's busiest port

It may be a busy port, but Gothenburg has much more to offer than traditional water-related attractions. It’s inexpensive, compared to other destinations in Sweden, but so much fun: there are over 60,000 students at the University of Gothenburg, so you can expect an exciting, youthful atmosphere everywhere you go. Don’t miss Liseberg, Scandinavia’s largest amusement park, or, if you’d like to experience the city’s heritage first hand, check out Skansen Kronan and Haga, with its picturesque wooden houses from the 19th century.

One of the city’s largest film venues Editors' Note

The Bioplatset movie house is located in the Kunstorget area of Gothenburg, close to the city center. It first opened its doors in 1995, and with ten cinema screens, is one of the city’s largest film venues.

The theatre was designed by the Swedish architectural firm Semren & Mansson, with the interior being designed by Rutger Andersson. Together, they managed to retain some walls of the original 17th century building that stood here.

Biopalatset is a cinema under the SF Bio, the largest cinema chain in Sweden. They show movies every day of the week, roughly half of which are foreign language films, so there should always be something showing in English language.
