Oak trees and gorgeous Bay views

Across the bridge from San Francisco, Oakland has a enough for a few pleasant days. The city is home to the USS Potomac, alongside the city’s museum, art galleries, and parks. Shopping is fun in Oakland too, especially if you have a passion for hats - there is no men’s hat store quite like The Hat Guys. For gifts, souvenirs, good dining, and other shopping opportunities, follow College Avenue - it’s a local favorite.

Tara’s Organic Ice Cream is small gem of an ice cream parlor on Telegraph Avenue. They offer an extensive variety of ice creams and sorbets that have been handcrafted in small batches, and made from organic ingredients. They use freshly ground spices in each batch, and work with local farms to source fresh herbs and seasonal fruits to give you the scoop. This artisanal ice cream parlor offers ice cream made with love and genuine creativity. You can try exotic ice cream flavors like garam masala, basil, black sesame, pink peppercorn, or rosemary pear, and exciting sorbets like mango agave. More traditional flavors like vanilla, chocolate and raspberry are available too, in all their creamy organic goodness. The staff are not only friendly, but they help you pick out your favorites by offering samples with a smile. This place makes its own waffle cones too, either plain or with black sesame seeds. Plus, they serve to-die-for ice cream cakes with a cashew nut crust topped with chocolate, and decorated with cute paper flowers.
