Modern meets traditional in grand old Prague

Whilst many European cities have gradually modernised and adapted a 21st century look, Prague excels at changing with the times whilst remaining classically beautiful. Strolling around town, you get a sense of Prague’s rich and troubled history, but the culture of old-meets-new cosmopolitan desires to embrace the weekend-away spirit. As for shopping, unearth beautiful craftsmanship and wonderful jewelry.

Making fine art available to all Editors' Note

The mission of the National Gallery (Narodni Galerie) set out to elevate the national spirit through works of art, and this ideal remains central to the museum’s efforts. With a wealth of historic and culturally significant pieces, the museum was established by Prague nobility as The Picture Gallery.

Offering a central art collection for the culturally rich city, the National Gallery (Narodni Galerie) has several significant collections and exhibits, including St. George’s Convent and The House of the Black Madonna.
