Nature, at superlative

Reykjavik is a destination for nature lovers, a family-friendly location that offers some of nature’s most spectacular views: the northern lights, beautiful blue lagoons, whale watching, horseback riding, air tours, boat trips and kayaking on the coast of the fjords. Every district of the city hosts a number of thermal pools, filled with geothermal heated water, and spas offering the renowned all-Icelandic volcanic treatments. Reykjavik boasts an enchanting blend of old timber houses and contemporary architecture, with a cozy atmosphere, vibrant street life, and the best shopping experience in Iceland.

Slippbarinn is a hotel bar and eatery in downtown Reykjavik. This chic bar has a lively atmosphere, with a well-executed and crowd-pleasing menu and a thriving cocktail culture. This spacious venue has comfortable padded chairs and warm lighting, with a funky 70s décor. The menu features the Icelandic specialty of creamy fish soup, which this place takes on faultlessly. Besides a strong emphasis on fresh seafood, this marina-side restaurant offers inventive pizzas with toppings ranging from roasted lobster and chilli aioli to goats cheese and grapefruit, as well as gourmet burgers. The bar draws the local crowd for its artful cocktails with syrups made from scratch. Head along for Happy Hour every day between 3 and 6PM, where you can sample one of their craft cocktails, or choose from a long wine and beer menu. This venue also hosts live jazz every Wednesday, while DJs spin discs every Friday and Saturday night. Not just for adults, at brunch in the afternoons this place even offers babysitting services where the kids can watch animation. To top it all off, the venue offers stunning views of the colorful harbour just outside the door.
