Nature, at superlative

Reykjavik is a destination for nature lovers, a family-friendly location that offers some of nature’s most spectacular views: the northern lights, beautiful blue lagoons, whale watching, horseback riding, air tours, boat trips and kayaking on the coast of the fjords. Every district of the city hosts a number of thermal pools, filled with geothermal heated water, and spas offering the renowned all-Icelandic volcanic treatments. Reykjavik boasts an enchanting blend of old timber houses and contemporary architecture, with a cozy atmosphere, vibrant street life, and the best shopping experience in Iceland.

During the spring & summer on a day when the weather is nice, it is really cozy to take a stroll through the botanical gardens of Reykjavík. This little café / bistro is right in the middle, & the organic material used in the menu is grown there. My wife & little one will take some magazines & books to our spot in the gazebo & listen to the birds in the trees while enjoying some coffee & hot cocoa.

Romantic restaurant at the botanical gardens Editors' Note

Marentza Poulsen’s Flóran at the Botanical gardens of Reykjavík is a cozy restaurant, which serves seasonal cuisine, based on organic ingredients. You will dine surrounded by beautiful plants, at the heart of the plant and herb collection of the garden.

The menu is inspired by Scandinavian traditions, and features meat and seafood dishes, but also good options for vegans and vegetarians. Flóran is only open during the warmer seasons, from the first day of May, to the first day of October.
