The Basque Culinary Centre has been responsible for training some of Spain’s finest chefs. It’s the place for any aspiring kitchen superstar to start their training, and is only the second training center of its kind in Europe. Thankfully, you don’t need to be a lecturer to sample some of the creations put together by the trainees. The on-site cafeteria and restaurant are open to the public and provides a unique on-the-job training ground for students studying Gastronomy and Culinary Arts.

For cheap, tasty and inventive bocadillos, the cafeteria is perfect for lunch or a snack. The separate restaurant provides a more special experience, with soft homemade bread, plenty of fine wines and an edible showcase of the students' training and progress. It can, understandably, be hard to get a table at such a unique eatery, so advance reservations are a must. Short-term cookery classes in Spanish and English are also offered if you want to improve your skills without enrolling on a full-blown degree.
